Akara and moi moi are two Nigerian meals that look, taste and feel different. But they are both made from beans. In fact, they go through the same process, of de-coating, blending and mixing until just about the last step of preparation. Whichever you choose to eat, they have the same nutritional content.
This is the simplest I can gender equality out: besides biological differences, a man and a woman are completely same. Nobody teaches a man to ejaculate, or a woman to menstruate. It comes to them naturally, except when extraordinary interventions come in thanks to science and technology, everything stays that way. And in fact, it is only on this (physiological) basis that humans are defined as man or woman.
On the flip side, the factors that make them similar are infinite. They both have two eyes and two feet. They eat, defecate, laugh and cry. They both have a brain and a heart. They have the same learning abilities, and the list goes on. It’s safe to say that excluding physiological differences, there’s no rational explanation for segregation. The moment you realise this, you would treat everyone without a tilt.
Nobody ought to be legally or socially restricted because of their gender. All restrictions start and end in Biology text books, and if you agree with this, you’re a feminist. If you look at this objectively, you’d agree that gender equality is a no brainer.
